Our forest school area has a new tree house. The tree house is built from repurposed wood to support sustainability within the school. Today some children in Duck class were excited to explore the new structure. We are very excited to share the tree house with children during forest school sessions this week.

Last week at The Rushmere Park Academy, we held an outdoor learning week for National Children's Day. National Children's Day focuses is an annual observance dedicated to celebrating children's rights and well-being. At TRPA, we focused on Article 31 from the UNCRC - the children's right to play and relax, for this the children began creating their own sensory garden in our grounds, which they will be able to use to relax and play in. Each year group took a different sense. EYFS focused on sight and create decorations, mirrors and nature discs to hang from the trees. Year 1 created a sensory path way for the theme of touch, they also planted some sensory flowers. Year 2 had the sense of taste and planted some fruits and vegetables. Year 3 planted peppermint, spearmint, thyme and rosemary in tyres they had painted for the sense of smell. Finally, Year 4 create a giant wind chime and some sound makers using old keys for the sense of sound. We shall add to our sensory garden throughout the year.

On Tuesday we opened up the EYFS gardens for a stay and play session, where parents and carers were invited to take part in their children's play. The children enjoyed the experience of having their grown-ups come to join them, especially in our garden area, a favourite place for so many! 🌱⭐

On Wednesday, The Rushmere Park Academy Nursery were visited by a mobile farm. This visit supported their current topic of animals and their babies. The children really enjoyed being up close and petting the animals. A particular highlight was the baby goats (kids) Mario, Luigi and Peaches.

This morning Robin Class enjoyed their regular forest school session. They were all engaged in exploring their environment and the activities available. We enjoyed painting a blank canvas with forest school as the back drop. We loved looking for insects, playing in the mud kitchen and much more.

On Friday we enjoyed a gratitude stay and play for the special females in our children's lives. Children enjoyed creating lovely crafts and spending time with someone special. 🌸🌼🌺
